Six Morning Rituals for a Happier Day

  • Six Morning Rituals for a Happier Day

Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s the best gift you can give the world. You, empowered. Try these six morning rituals for a happier day!

How many of you are guilty of pushing snooze on your alarm 2-3 times before rushing out of bed to barely get out the door in time for work?

I know I have been guilty of this, and to be totally honest I still am sometimes.

Does this morning ritual of laying in bed until the last possible second actually make you feel better about your day? Do you feel more rested? Empowered? Confident?

    Me neither.

You know what does do all of those things for me though? Intentionally rising early.

One of my favorite authors, Jim Rohn, said “Either you run the day, or the day runs you.” The very best way to take control of your day is to intentionally rise early and have some basic morning rituals that help you to be the best version of yourself you can be.

These morning rituals are specifically designed to help you take control of your day so you attain your goals sooner!

Tomorrow morning, set your alarm for 30-60 minutes earlier than you normally would. You can take either 5 minutes for each of the following self-care rituals or 10. Do what is best for you, only you can decide that.

    Prayer & Meditation

When your alarm goes off, instead of hitting the snooze button, walk to a designated area where it is quiet and peaceful but do not stay in your bed. Spend the next 5-10 minutes in prayer and mediation. Clear any concerns in your mind by prayerfully giving them to Spirit. Then sit with your mind open to receive whatever Spirit has to give to you for the day. If you have Frankincense from Young Living Essential Oils it is the perfect oil to diffuse during meditation. It has been used for this purpose for thousands of years in temples across the earth.

When this time is up, go grab a glass of lemon water. We like to use Lemon Vitality™ from Young Living Essential Oils in our water, but you can use freshly squeezed lemon juice as well. Drink the whole glass to help your body wake up for the day.

    Vision Boarding & Meditation

What are your personal goals for the year? If you do not set yourself up to be pursuing those exact goals each day, you are sure to fail at attaining them. This next morning ritual will help you to maintain focus and crush your goals on time, or even early!

Go back to your quiet space and take the following 5-10 minutes to look over your vision board or goals list and speak positive affirmations over yourself. Words are powerful, belief is powerful. Combine them to remain focused and purposeful. If you need assistance with crafting your vision board or affirmations message our Holistic Lifestyle Coach & Certified Reiki Master, Jackie Stephens.

    Essential Oils & Self-Care

We all know that scent is an important part of life. Did you know that certain scents can help you focus on your goals when used with your morning self-care routine? Take 5-10 minutes to give yourself a quick massage with a scent that invigorates you! Here are a couple of our favorites to give you inspiration. Don’t have Young Living oils yet? Join our team to get them!

Frankincense is our favorite oil to use first thing in the morning. We actually apply it on our forehead over the third eye (over the pineal gland), and under our noses to awaken our senses and help us feel focused and alert. It has become an important part of our daily routine and we associate the scent with purposeful mornings.

Stress Away™ essential oil is like a tropical beach in a bottle. With its hints of vanilla and lime, it brings us right to our happy place. We like to mix it with a few drops of V-6™ Carrier Oil and use it for a quick all over body massage before getting dressed for the day.

    Grounding

Who is familiar with the concept of grounding or earthing? It is something our ancestors utilized by default during their morning rituals, but many of us miss out on its benefits due to our disconnected lifestyle.

Grounding may be more important now than ever before in the history of the earth. With all the electromagnetic interference we are subject to every day, our bodies crave connection to earth. Why do you think so many people desire to get to the beach? We all have this almost primal drive to get our toes in the sand, and for good reason.

So while you may not be able to get to the beach every morning, you CAN get your feet on the earth as weather permits. I urge you to take 5-10 minutes to sit outside with bare feet touching the grass or dirt. You can take your vision board with you, or maybe take some time to journal. Whatever you do, get your feet directly on the earth and you will feel more empowered and connected throughout the rest of your day.

    Exercise

So many of us have great intentions to exercise. But day by day we put it off for one reason or another. We often say we are too busy, have too much on our plate, or admittedly are just too lazy to make it happen. Whatever your reason (cough *excuse* cough) even you can take 5-10 minutes to do some exercises that could transform your entire day.

One of the benefits of starting your day with exercise is the increased energy your body will feel! There is nothing quite as stimulating as getting your blood pumping with a quick workout.

We like to begin with 2-3 minutes of gentle warm up, 4-5 minutes of brisk exercise and then another 2-3 minutes of cool down and stretching. With the internet at our disposal you can find coaching on a host of topics. If you aren’t sure where to start, visit our fitness page and ask our Personal Trainer Jesse Snow what might be best for you!

    Lookin' Good

Last, but not least, take 5-10 minutes each morning to do something that will make you feel good about how you look that day. Why? Because if you feel good about how you look, you will have more confidence to tackle your daily tasks. For you ladies this might be a quick blow out and some make up. Or maybe taking the time to pick out a couple accessories you normally would skip because you are pressed for time. For gentlemen it might be trimming your beard or applying your signature scent. Whatever it is that gives you that extra boost, make time for it. You won’t regret it later.
